Cased Wound Badge in Gold & Miniature

Description

Cased Wound Badge in Gold (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Gold). With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 Septembert 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. The badge is a nice tombak (Buntmetall) example, the badge is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the 'Hauptmünzamt' in Wien (Vienna). Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. The badge comes in its original 'LDO' type box. The box is showing some normal small damages and usage on the corners and is in overall very good condition. Included in the box is a nice 16mm sized miniature. Stunning original set in very good condition!
