Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes on its original screw-back disc (Schraubscheibe). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The cross has a three piece construction with a magnetic iron core, the black paint is showing clear traces of usage and possibly having been touched up in the past, see photos. The cross is maker marked with 'L/13', indicating production by the company of 'Paul Meybauer' from Berlin. The cross comes on its original and naturally functional pin and catch. Nice original cross in good used condition!
