Luftwaffe Wehrpaß

Description

Luftwaffe 'Wehrpaß'. When individuals received their registration notice they were to report to the appropriate recruitment center where they would be issued a 'Wehrpaß', until they were inducted into active duty. From the autumn of 1939, when an individual was inducted into active military service the Wehrpaß was exchanged at the recruitment office for the 'Soldbuch' (Pay Book), which remained in the recipients possession as his official military identification document. The recruitment office would retain the Wehrpass and chronicle the individuals active service record in it. The Wehrpaß belonged to Obergefreiten 'Arno Tröger', he served in several units including the '2.Flak Ers.Abt.33' (Flak-Ersatz-Abteilung 33) and the 'Fernsprech-Betriebs-Kompanie Danzig' and several other units. He was trained to use the following weapons: Karabiner 98k and the 8,8 Flak 18. He was promoted two times and ended up being an 'Obergefreiten'. He was first stationed with a Flak unit in Germany near Leipzig. From 23 March 1942 on he was sent to the Eastern Front and experienced many days with enemy activity. From 17 February 1943 he took part in ground combat (Erdkampf) in the battles for Staraja-Russa, Nowgorod and Pleskau. On 7 March 1943 he was relocated to North Finland with his Flak unit. From 8 to 28 October 1944 he took again part in ground combat in the battle for 'Petsamo' and 'Kirkenes'. From 29 November 1944 to 8 May 1945 he was stationed in Norway where he was awarded the 'Lappland' Campaign Shield. He was awarded with several awards, see list below. Take a look at the photos for more information. Page 39/30 is missing, some pages are slightly damaged and/or have been taped, see photos. Interesting original Wehrpaß!
