Black coloured Double Decal M16 'Bahnschutzpolizei' Helmet

Description

Black coloured M16 Double Decal 'Bahnschutzpolizei' Helmet (Stahlhelm M16). Black painted helmets with decals were issued by the Bahnschutzpolizei, The Bahnschutzpolizei was tasked with railway safety and also with preventing espionage and sabotage of railway property. The steel construction M16 helmet was refurbished for usage in the Railway Protection Police by applying black paint and army decals, together with a M31 liner. The steel construction helmet retains most of its original black paint, the paint is showing some scratches and normal traces of usage and slight surface rust. Both decals are present for about 90%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an original early M31 liner having a steel liner ring. The liner is approximately a size '57', an original liner cord is present. Unfortunately the liner has been treated with some leather grease by a collector in the past, the leather is still supple however, maybe it can be cleaned, I left it as found in an old collection in the USA recently, see photos. In my opinion the liner has been replaced or taken apart in the past as well. Nevertheless an extremly rare and almost impossible to find original Double Decal helmet shell for 'Bahnschutzpolizei' members, this would be a great addition to any helmet collection!
