Wehrmacht (Heer) DAK Motorcyclist's Protective Coat (Afrikakorps Kradmantel für Tropen). Motorcyclist’s/Dispatch riders were outfitted with special protective clothing that included the motorcyclist's protective coat or called 'Kradmantel'. In late 1940, with the impending German entrance into the North African campaign, tropical uniforms and equipment were quickly developed and issued in time for DAK personnel's arrival in Tripoli in February 1941, this included a Tropical Motorcyclist's Protective Coat. Originally the tropical uniforms were only intended for wear in North Africa but that was later expanded to include personnel serving in southern areas of continental Europe during the summer months. The coat is constructed from khaki/olive cotton, it has a single metal hook and eye at the neckline. The shoulder-board loops and buttons are present. The coat is nicely size marked (chest size 96cms) and maker marked by the company 'Thiele & Co.' from München. The greatcoat is in very good condition showing only minimal traces of years of storage. Stunning original tropical 'Kradmantel' in very good condition!
