WH (Heer) M40 SD Helmet with bullet hole
Wehrmacht (Heer) M40 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M40). The stamped sheet steel construction M40 helmet retains most of its rough textured, field-grey paint. The paint shows normal wear but there is some paint loss and rust on the helmet, see photos. A standard Heeres decal was applied to the left side of the helmet, the decal is retained for about 15%. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet has a M31 leather liner. The liner is size '56', the original drawstring is missing. The shell is marked with maker and size 'Q64' which indicates production by the company 'F.W. Quist, G.m.b.H.' in Esslingen. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number 'DN360'. There are some normal damages and scratches caused by usage. The helmet is having a bullet hole which went through and through from front to back, through the liner, see photos. Nice and honest original M40 combat helmet, real battlefield pick-up!
