WH (Heer) Infantry Officer's 'Alter Art' Crusher style Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice early pre-war privately purchased Officer's cap with leather visor being a so called 'Alter-Art' style cap. The cap has no visible size markings, the size is approximately 57cms. The visor cap is piped in the white 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Infantry personnel. The leather sweatband is in good used condition. There is one damage to the cap which looks like a cut or shrapnell damage, see photos. The cap is complete with its original felt wool wreath with early type cocarde directly attached and sewn to the cap, see photos. The cap eagle is a nice early nickel-silver type. The cap has a great shape and look. Stunning original early 'Alter-Art' type visor cap!
