Cased Iron Cross 1st Class '26'

Description

Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes in its original etui as issued. On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The magnetic cross has a three piece construction, the cross shows great detail overall and a nice age patina. There is some minor paint loss to the cross, see photos. The cross is having a functional pin and catch. The cross is nicely maker marked with number '26' indicating production by the company of 'B.H. Mayer' from Pforzheim. The cross comes with its original case as found, the case is in good used condition. Nice original set in good used condition!
