Wehrmacht 'Gl.Erz.400' Power Generator 'Panzerwürfel'. This was a power generator used for the 5 W.S., 10 W. S., 20 W. S., and 30 W. S. transmitters. The power generated consisted of 400 Watts and could be switched from 12 to 16 Volts. These generators were a more efficient way of supplying radios with electricity when the motors of their vehicles were not running. Otherwise vehicular battery power had to be used which drained these batteries quickly. These generators are also known as 'Panzerwürfel' or 'Tigerwürfel' because of their usage in panzers. The generator has been partly repainted, most parts however originate their original paint and scripts. I have had this generator started with a large battery and running for half an hour about 2 years ago but did not make it run again since. It will probably need some service and maintance. Decorative original item which would be a great addition to any panzer/armoured collection!
