 World war 1 Iron Cross first class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse) that comes on its original screw-back disc (Schraubscheibe). Re-instituted by King Wilhelm II on 5 August 1914 for award during WWI. Both the Iron Cross 1st Class and the Iron Cross 2nd Class were awarded without regard to rank. The second class medal was for award to personnel who performed a single act of bravery in combat. One had to already possess the 2nd Class in order to receive the 1st Class. The cross has a three piece construction and has a magnetic iron core. The cross comes on its original and naturally functional two-piece screw-back set-up. The small pin (to firmly attach the cross to the uniform) is naturally also present. The cross is not visible maker marked but can very likely be attributed to the company of 'Godet' from Berlin. Nice and scarce original example in very good condition!

 Eerste Wereldoorlog IJzeren Kruis 1e Klasse (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse), compleet met zogenaamde draaischijf (Schraubscheibe). Heringesteld door Koning Wilhelm II op 5 augustus 1914. Zowel het IJzeren Kruis 1e als 2e Klasse konden worden uitgereikt aan personen van elke rang. Het IJzeren Kruis 2e Klasse werd uitgereikt aan personen voor het tonen van moed tijdens de strijd. Om het IJzeren Kruis 1e Klasse te verdienen moest men al in he bezit zijn van het IJzeren Kruis 2e Klasse. Het kruis is driedelig en heeft een magnetische ijzeren kern. Het Kruis is compleet met zijn functionele opschroefbare twee-delige draaischijf aan de achterzijde, vanzelfsprekend is het kleine pinnetje om de medaille mooi op een uniform te bevestigen ook nog aanwezig. Het kruis is niet zichtbaar maker gemarkeerd maar kan zeer waarschijnlijk worden toegewezen aan de firma 'Godet' uit Berlijn. Mooi en zeldzaam origineel exemplaar in erg goede staat!
