1st model Luftwaffe Officer's Dagger
First Pattern Luftwaffe Officer's Dagger (Luftwaffe Offiziersdolch). Shortly after the unveiling of the Luftwaffe in March 1935 a modified version of the DLV’s Officer’s dagger was adopted for wear by Luftwaffe Officer’s and EM/NCO’s personnel who held a valid pilots licence, this 1st pattern dagger was often called 'Borddolch' or 'Fliegerdolch'. Originally the early daggers were produced utilizing nickel/silver fittings until 1936 when the early fittings were replaced with polished natural aluminum fittings. This is an example with aluminum fittings. The dagger has an in leather wrapped grip with the correct diagonally silver/aluminum wire wrap. The leather scabberd is having aluminum fittings and an aluminum type hangers/chain. The blade is nicely marked by the company of 'Eickhorn' in Solingen. The leather washer is still intact. The dagger shows some normal damages and traces of usage. The dagger is in overall very good condition. Nice and hard to find early example!
