Wehrmacht Observation Binoculars 12x60 (Beobachtungsfernrohr 12x60), marked with 'Em 4m R40' (Entfernungsmesser 4m R40), these binoculars were used with the 4m R40 rangefinder in heavy AA-batteries, complete with undamaged 'Bakelite' eyecup protector. The binoculars are maker marked with the three-digit code 'blc' indicating production by the famous 'Carl Zeiss' company from Jena. The binoculars were originally painted in the standard ordnance-tan colour, but is showing a nice green and brown camouflage overpaint, showing great patina. The sun protection is slightly damaged, see photo. The optics are slightly clouded but can still be used, see photo. Nice and honest piece of equipment!
