German Cross in Gold Grouping
'Deutsches Kreuz in Gold' (German Cross in Gold) grouping which belonged to 'Friedrich Ernst Halbrock'. The grouping consists of some of his award documents, awards, photo's and other documents. The Iron Cross 2nd Class is in stunning mint condition and nicely maker marked with '100' (Rudolf Wächtler & Lange) on the ring. The German Cross in Gold is a nice cloth version embroidered on Luftwaffe grey cloth and was never worn. The German Cross was introduced by Adolf Hitler on 28 September 1941 in two classes, Gold and Silver. The gold class cross was awarded to military personnel for exceptional acts of bravery or achievement in combat, the Silver class was awarded for distinguished acts of service in the war effort. The German Cross was to be worn on the lower right breast of the service tunic or field blouse. He was awarded with the German Cross in Gold on 2 August 1943. Within the grouping are the Award Documents for both the Iron Cross 2nd and 1st Class and the award document for the Eastern Front Medal (Ostmedaille). There is a small document with an overview of the medals he was awarded with, according to the document he was awarded with the Luftwaffe Honor Goblet (Ehrenpokal der Luftwaffe). There is also a nice portrait picture of him and a nice drawing made in 1947 in captivity together with his captivity document. This group comes directly from the family and was never before in a collection. Really nice and interesting grouping!
