The grouping is consisting of 2 Award-Documents (Urkunden), both in (DIN) A5 size. Walter was awarded with the Krim Campaign Shield (Krimschild) on 30 January 1943, this document shows the facsimile signature of Generalfeldmarschall 'Erich von Manstein'. This is a decorative version showing an image of the Krim Campaign shield. On 1 September 1944 Walter was awarded with the War Merit Cross 2nd Class (Kriegsverdienst Kreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwerter), this document is personally signed by Lieutenant-General 'Gustav Heistermann von Ziehlberg', he was a recipient of the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross.
