WH Panzer document-group 'Willi Bode'
Wehrmacht Panzer award document-group of Oberfeldwebel 'Willi Bode', who has been a member within the Panzer Regiment 1, 11 and 36.
'Willi Bode' was awarded with the Wehrmacht 4 Years Long Service Award (Dienstauszeichung IV. Klasse) on 5 May 1936, being an Unteroffizier in the 'Panzer Regiment 1'. On 30 October 1939 Willi Bode was awarded the 1 oktober 1938 Medal with 'Prager Burg' spange (Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 1 Oktober 1938 mit Spange), at the time being a Feldwebel within the 'Stab II./Panzer-Regiment 36'. Willi Bode received his promotion document for his promotion to 'Feldwebel' on 1 November 1939. On 3 November 1939 he was awarded with the Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eiserne Kreuz 2. Klasse), this document is personally signed by Generalleutnant u. Divisionskommandeur 'Georg-Hans Reinhardt'. Reinhardt was awarded with Knight's Cross on 27 October 1939, the Oakleaves on 17 February 1942 and the swords on 26 May 1944. On 24 June 1940 Willi Bode was awarded with the Panzer Assault Badge (Panzerkampfabzeichen), of interest is that this is a field-made award-document (im Felde), most likely after the operations with the Panzer-Regiment 36 in Southern-France, the document is personally signed by General Major u. Divisions Kommandeur 'Johann Joachim Stever'. On 12 September 1941 Willi Bode was awarded with the Woundbadge in Silver (Verwundetenabzeichen in Silber).
Included with the group are also two nice cards/maps of 'Der Siegeszug in Polen' and one of 'Der Siegeszug im Westen' of the Panzer-Regiment 36. There are also three Drivers lincenses included in the grouping, his pre-war drivers license dated 22 May 1931, his 27 November 1936 dated drivers license from the Panzer-Regiment 1 and his yellow coloured 'Militair-Fahrlehrerschein' (military driving instructor) from the Panzer-Regiment 11 which is dated 10 February 1938. One small portrait-photo of a member of the Panzer-Regiment 11 is included with the set as well, I don't know who is on the photo but it was found together with the other documents. This grouping has recently been found in Germany. A nice and interesting early Panzer grouping that surely merits further investigation!
