Description

Cased Kriegsmarine Blocade Runner Badge (Blockadebrecher-Kriegsabzeichen). The Blocade Runner Badge was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 1 April 1941 for award to Naval personnel and Merchant marines who met specific criteria, the most important being returning a ship to Germany after breaking through an enemy blockade. The badge is executed in 'Buntmetall'. The badge is in overall good, albeit clearly used & worn condition. The pin & catch are of course complete and functional. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'Fec. Otto Placzek Berlin, Ausf. Schwerin-Berlin'. The badge comes with its original larger style tombak miniature, both nicely stored in an original period blue case. The case is showing normal traces of usage. Nice original set in good condition!
