Cased Miniature Mothers Cross in Gold 'L/54'
Cased Miniature Mothers Cross in Gold (Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter). The Mother's Cross was introduced by Adolf Hitler on 16 December 1938 as part of a large propaganda campaign aimed at increasing the birth rate. With the Bronze cross for bearing four or five children, the Silver cross for bearing six or seven children and the Gold cross for bearing eight or more. This is a nice miniature of the Gold grade cross. The cross comes with its original confectioned ribbon and functional pin/catch set-up. The cross is nicely maker marked with 'L/54' indicating production by the company of 'Schauerte & Hohfeld' from Lüdenscheid. The cross comes in its original 'LDO' type box. The box has some normal useage and some damage at the corners what is seen often on these boxes, see photos. Rare original set in good condition!
