Cased Wound Badge in Gold '107'

Description

Cased Wound Badge in Gold (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Gold). With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 Septembert 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. The late war zinc construction badge is nicely maker marked with number '107' indicating production by the company of 'Carl Wild' from Hamburg. Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. The badge still retains a fair amount of its original gold finish. The badge comes in an original burgundy coloured box as normally intended for a silver grade woundbadge, the set was however found together like this. The box is showing some normal small damages and usage on the corners and is in overall good condition. Nice original set in good used condition!
