Cased Wound Badge in Gold '30'
Cased Wound Badge in Gold (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Gold). With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 Septembert 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. The badge is a nice tombak (Buntmetall) piece and is maker marked with number '30', indicating production by the 'Hauptmünzamt' in Wien (Vienna). Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. On the back the badge has been engraved with the soldier's name and unit: "Uffz. H. Zintel, Pi.z. 2.Stbs.Kp.Inf.Rgt.123", in the spring of 1941, the Infantry Regiment 123 took part in the Balkan campaign. At the beginning of the summer of 1941 the Regiment took part in the eastern campaign in the southern section of the eastern front. The badge comes in its original box. The box is showing some normal small damages and usage on the corners and is in overall very good condition. The box is complete with original label of the company 'Hauptmünzamt, Wien'. Stunning original set in good condition!
