Close Combat Clasp in Gold - 'Deschler'

Description

Close Combat Clasp in Gold (Nahkampfspange in Gold). The Close Combat Clasp was introduced on 25 November 1942 for award to personnel who fought in hand-to-hand combat situations unsupported by armor. The clasp was issued in three grades: Bronze for fifteen combat days, Silver for thirty combat days and Gold for fifty combat days. The badge is a 'Feinzink' version, the design is showing a crossed bayonet and stick grenade. The clasp shows great detail and still retains some of its original faded gold finish on front and some clear gold finish on the reverse, see photos. The clasp is complete with its original magnetic backplate. The clasp can be attributed to production by the company of 'Deschler & Sohn' from München, one of the rarest variants to be found. The clasp is having a functional pin and catch. This is clearly a gold example, however due to the faded gold finish very friendly priced compared to examples with strong gold finish in the 5k price range. Rare original gold grade clasp from a rare manufacturer in good condition!
