The Westwall medal was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 2 August 1939 for military personnel, and civilian employees, who assisted in the planning and construction or defence of the German fortifications on the western border of Germany. The medal is a late war 'Zink' example, complete with its original pouch of issue. The pouch is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Carl Poellath' from Schrobenhausen. The 12 cms piece of ribbon might be a post-war replacement. Nice set in good condition!
