British Airborne Denison Smock 1942

Description

British Airborne Troops Camouflage Denison Smock. As a result of the German paratroopers success’s early in the war the British Army formed an Airborne division in early 1941. These voluntary paratroopers were originally equipped with a grey-green coloured smock patterned after the German paratroopers smocks, until late 1941 when the Camouflage Denison Smock was introduced. The smock was intended to be worn over the battle dress with any equipment to be worn over the smock. This is an early 1st pattern smock with woolen cuffs. The Size 7 Smock is complete with label, produced by the company of 'Thomas Briggs Ltd.' and dated 1942. The smock is marked with War Department Depot Code 'O' indicating 1942. The smock has the correct brass "newey" press studs. The zipper is in perfect functional condition and marked by 'Dot, made in England'. The smock is complete with original tail flap. This is the best example I've had on offer and will be very hard to upgrade. Stunning original smock in very good, near mint, condition!
