Canadian RCE Battle-Dress Jacket

Description

Canadian Battle-Dress jacket as intended for a Canadian RCE (Royal Canadian Engineers) Lieutenant within the 1st Canadian Army. The Canadian-made Battledress was made according to the British 1937 Pattern. The Battledress was the standard uniform for all Army Personnel, officers and other ranks in the theatres of operations. This Battledress is is nicely maker marked by the company 'Tip Top Tailors Ltd' and dated March 1942, the jacket is also marked with a Canadian 'broad-arrow' marking. The battledress is size 10 marked. There are a name and varous service numbers written inside the jacket, see photos. Machine-sewn to the tunic is a pair of nicely embroidered 'R.C.E.' (Royal Canadian Engineers) titles, above a pair of 'Canada' titles and 1st Canadian Army flashes. Two blue coloured rank pips indicating a Lieutenant within the Engineers are nicely hand-sewn to each shoulder-board. To the wearer's lower right sleeve a 4 year's service badge has been nicely hand-sewn. The tunic comes together with a nice original lanyard and a ribbon-bar which is sewn directly to the breast. All insignia are original period applied. Great original tunic in very good condition!
