Canadian 'The Westminster Regiment' Battledress & Beret

Description

Canadian Battle-Dress jacket & Beret as intended for a Canadian soldier within 'The Royal Westminster Regiment', part of the 5th Canadian Armoured Division, which took part in the liberation of Italy and Western Europe. The Canadian-made Battledress was made according to the British 1937 Pattern. The Battledress was the standard uniform for all Army Personnel, officers and other ranks in the theatres of operations. This Battledress is is nicely maker marked by the company 'Master Craft Uniform Co. Reg'D and dated April 1945, the jacket is also marked with a Canadian 'broad-arrow' marking. The battledress is size 7 marked. Machine-sewn to each upper sleeve of the tunic is a British made machine-embroiderd  'The Westminster Regiment Canada' title, above a 5th Canadian Armoured Division patch. To the wearer's lower right sleeve a 6 year's service badge has been nicely hand-sewn in place, including one year of service in 1939. The tunic comes together with a nice original ribbon-bar which has been hand-sewn to the wearer's left breast, including a ribbon for the 'Italy Star'. All insignia are original period applied. The tunic comes together with a khaki beret. The cap is nicely maker marked by the 'Grand'mere Knitting Company Limited' and dated 1944. The size of the cap is 6⅞. The cap is complete with a 'The Westminster Regiment' cap-badge. Great original tunic & beret in good used condition!
