Canadian Portrait Photograph
This is a nice portrait photograph of two Canadian soldiers from the 23rd RCA. The '23rd Field Regiment' (RCA) was part of the 4th Canadian Armoured Division of the 2nd Canadian Corps, of the 1st Canadian Army. Formed in Canada in 1942, the regiment consisted of three batteries that were recruited mainly from Ontario. After a period of training in Canada the regiment deployed to the United Kingdom in July 1943. The month after D-Day, the regiment landed in France and subsequently participated in the breakout campaign from Normandy into Belgium and the Netherlands, before seeing their final actions of the war in Germany. The soldiers are wearing their Canadian Battle Dress and Beret. A Royal Canadian Artillery Cap Badge is attached to their beret. '23RCA' titles and division patches are clearly visible to their shoulders. The photo measures approximately 12,5 x 8,5 cms in size. The name and address of the soldiers have been described at the back of the photo, the soldiers are named 'Ken Robinson' and 'Harry Nosko', both from Ontario, Canada. Nice original Canadian portrait!
