Cased Wound Badge in Silver '65'

Description

Wound Badge in Silver (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Silber) that comes in its original box of issue. With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 Septembert 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. The badge is a nice 'Zink' example and is maker marked with number '65' indicating production by the company of 'Klein & Quenzer AG' from Idar-Oberstein. The badge still retains a fair amount of its original silver finish. Of course are the pin and catch fully functional. The badge comes in its bordeaux-red coloured box, the 'LDO' marked box is showing some normal small damages and usage on the corners and is in overall good used condition. Nice original set in good used condition!
