Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for 'Karl Hainzl' who was a 'Gefreiter' within an 'Artillerie Regiment' and his brother 'Johann Hainzl' who was an 'SS Unterscharführer' within the Waffen-SS. Karl was killed in action on 15 March 1944 at the eastern front. Johann died on 14 December 1944 at the western front. This death notice measures approximately 13,5 x 10,5 cms.
