German Helmet Liner (Stahlhelm Innenfutter). Leather construction helmet liner, all eight extended fingers are intact. Each finger has five, punched, ventilation holes with an additional punched hole at the tip of each to insert the fit adjustment drawstring, complete with replaced drawstring. The leather is a bit dry but still supple and flexible. This is a size '57' liner, this liner would fit in a size 64 helmet. The magnetic steel liner ring is nicely maker marked by the 'Schuberth Werk K.G.' from Braunschweig and dated 1940. Spare liners are almost impossible to find nowadays, especially the earlier 1940 dated examples are hard to find. The liner is in good used condition, perfect for restauration of an M40 helmet!
