Waffen-SS Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for 'Franz Kaseder' who was a 'Gefreiter' and 'Kradmelder' within a 'SS Verfügungsgruppe'. He was killed in action on 12 August 1941 at the eastern front near Lepkina. Franz was participant in the France and Serbia campaigns and was awarded with the Infantry Assault Badge. Franz is wearing his SS tunic, a "SS 1" collar tab is clearly visible indicating that he was a member in the SS Regiment 'Deutschland'. Interesting original death notice!
