Waffen-SS Death notice (Sterbebild). A common practice in Europe that continues to this day, is the issue of a remembrance card on the death of a family member. This is a death notice for 'Sepp Ehlinger' who was a 'Unterscharführer' within the SS. He was killed in action on 5 November 1942 in Katowice. Sepp was awarded with the 'HJ Golden Member Honor Badge' and the 'Austrian occupation medal'. Sepp is wearing his SS tunic, a vertical "SS Totenkopf" collar tab is clearly visible indicating that he was a member in the 'SS Totenkopf division'. Interesting original death notice!
