Luftwaffe (Award)Document Grouping
Luftwaffe Award-Document Grouping of Unteroffizier 'Heinz Grube', who was a member within the Kampfgeschwader 4 "General Wever". When individuals received their registration notice they were to report to the appropriate recruitment center where they would be issued a 'Wehrpaß', until they were inducted into active duty. From the autumn of 1939, when an individual was inducted into active military service the Wehrpaß was exchanged at the recruitment office for the 'Soldbuch' (Pay Book), which remained in the recipients possession as his official military identification document. The recruitment office would retain the Wehrpass and chronicle the individuals active service record in it. This grouping is complete with both Heinz's 'Wehrpaß' and 'Soldbuch'. Heinz volunteered and came into active military service on 1 October 1939 in the '4./Fl.Ausb.Rgt.12', he went to various schools including the 'Flugzeugführerschule' in Klagenfurt and the 'Bordschützenschule' in Rahmel, from 5 August 1943 he served within the '13./Kampfgeschwader General Wever 4', he was promoted four times and ended up being an 'Unteroffizier'. After he followed educations he became a 'Bordschütze'. He flew among others in a Heinkel He111 and according to his 'Militärbortwartschein' he was ready to fly on a Ju86, Ju88, He111 or Ju52. From 1 April 1941 to 22 May 1941 Heinz took part in the operations on the Balkans "Verwendung im Operationsgebeit während der Balkan Feldzüg". From 5 August 1943 he took part in the operations at the Western Front: "Verwendung im Operationsgebiet West bei IV./K.G.4" (Kampfgeschwader 4). From 22 December 1943 he took part in the Operations against the Sovjet Union in the Southern Sector of the Eastern Front. Untill 5 November 1944 he took part in 77 'Feindflüge' and 99 'Frontflüge', no records have been made after this date. Both the Wehrpaß and Soldbuch are in good used condition and complete with portrait-photo, a lot of entries have been made, see photos. His 'Militärbortwartschein' is complete with portrait-photo as well.
Included in the grouping are 4 of his Award-Documents. Included in the grouping is a small photo-album from his period in Klagenfurt, the photos in the album date from around 1941/1942. This grouping has recently been found in Germany and was not part of a collection before. A nice and interesting late-war Luftwaffe Document grouping of a bomber crewmember that surely merits further investigation!
