Waffen-SS M42 Single Decal Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M42). This steel construction M42 helmet was sold by me before as an untouched barnfind showing heavy surface rust, the previous owner who bought it from me has carefully cleaned this helmet from the rust and conservated the helmet and liner. It is making this helmet look much better still showing a fair amount of its original field-grey paint and about 75% of its original textbook correct 'ET' type SS decal. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is a M31 leather liner, the liner is in used and regrettably damaged condition. The shell is marked with maker and size 'ckl64' which indicates production by the company 'Eisen-und Hüttenwerke, AG' in Thale/Harz. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number which is hard to read but looks like '2642' or something similar. The helmet is complete with its original chinstrap, the chinstrap is nicely maker marked by a manufacturer from Prag and dated 1942, the leather is a bit dry, see photos. This helmet was originally found in an old barn near the Czech border. There is still a lot of dirt visible between the liner-ring and the helmet shell, see photos. Hard to find original SS helmet!
