WH (Heer) M18 Reversed Double Decal Helmet

Description

WH (Heer) M18 Transitional Reversed Double Decal Helmet (Stahlhelm M18). The steel construction M18 helmet retains most of its original field-grey paint. The helmet was refurbished for usage in the early Wehrmacht (Heer) by applying two decals. The steel construction helmet retains most of its original field-grey paint, the paint is showing some scratches and normal traces of usage. Both decals are in very good condition with some minor damage and scratches caused by usage, the standard Heeres decal is present for about 75%, the national tricolor decal is present for about 85%. An interesting fact is that these decals have been applied on the wrong side of the helmet. Early photos show these helmets with so-called reversed decals in wear by members of the 'Wachregiment Berlin' during inspection by 'General Kurt Feiherr von Hammerstei-Equord' in 1933, dating this helmet back to the earliest period of the Wehrmacht. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an original WW1 pattern liner having a name-tag on the inside of one of the leather flaps, the liner is maker marked by the company of 'Robert Lubstein' from Berlin. The helmet is complete with its original incomplete chinstrap, regrettably only the short strap is present. The helmet is in overall good used and untouched condition as found. This is the first such reversed decal helmet I've ever had on offer and these helmets certainly aren't very often offered for sale. This would be a rare oppurtunity to add this helmet to a helmet collection showing the timeline of the German Army Helmet!
