1957 Version of the Iron Cross 2nd Class 'S&L'
Description
1957 Version of the Iron Cross 2nd Class (Eisernes Kreuz 2. Klasse). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. In 1957 a new pattern without Swastika was instituted and allowed for wear by WW2 German Veterans. The magnetic cross has a three piece construction and the cross does still have the neat so-called: 'Hochpolierte Kanten', the cross just shows some minor wear and great detail overall. The cross is not visible maker marked but can very likely be attributed to production by the company of 'Steinhauer & Lück' from Lüdenscheid. Nice original 1957 version in very good condition!
