2nd Pattern Kriegsmarine E-Boat War Badge
2nd Pattern Kriegsmarine E-Boat War Badge (Schnellboot-Kriegsabzeichen). The E-Boat War Badge (1st pattern) was instituted on 30 May 1941 by Oberbefehlshaber der Kriegsmarine und Großadmiral 'Erich Raeder', it was designed by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin. On 28 January 1943 the second version was introduced, it was designed again, by 'Wilhelm Ernst Peekhaus' of Berlin in conjunction with Korvettenkapitan 'Rudolf Peterson'. The badge is a zinc second pattern badge in good condition. The badge still retains most of its original finish and shows great detail. The badge is complete with its original functional horizontal pin and catch, the top hook is regrettably missing. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'Fec. W.E. Peekhaus Berlin, Ausf. Schwerin Berlin 68' indicating production by the company of 'Schwerin' from Berlin. A name has been engraved to the back; 'Rink'. A nice and honest late war Kriegsmarine war badge!
