Cased Luftwaffe Air Gunner Badge
Cased Luftwaffe Air Gunner Badge (Fliegerschützenabzeichen). The Air Gunner Badge was introduced by 'Hermann Göring' on 26 March 1936 for award to radio operators, air gunners and mechanics who had met the required criteria. The Wireless Operator’s/Air Gunner’s badge was awarded on an individual basis and the main criteria for bestowal of the award was the completion of five operational flights over enemy territory or a minimum of two months active service. This is a late war zinc type badge, factory made without the lightning bolts as intended for airgunners only. The badge naturally has a functional pin & catch construction. The badge is nicely maker marked by the company of 'C.E. Juncker' from Berlin SW68, this is a so-called type J4. The badge comes in its matching original case as found together. The case is in good condition, on top of the case is stenciled in gilt print the script: "Luftwaffen Fliegerschützen Abzeichen". Great and hard to find original cased badge in good condition!
