Cased Wound Badge in Black - 'L/11'
Wound Badge in Black (Verwundeten Abzeichen in Schwarz) that comes in its original 'LDO' type carton box of issue. With the outbreak of World War 2, on 1 September 1939, Hitler re-instituted a slightly modified version of the wound badge by altering the WWI pattern helmet on the badge to the newly designed M35 style helmet. The badge was awarded to both military and uniformed non-military personnel and later, (March 1943), to civilian personnel who received wounds as a result of enemy actions. This is a magnetic steel example with a functional pin and catch. The badge is nicely maker marked with number 'L/11' indicating production by the company of 'Wilhelm Deumer' from Lüdenscheid. The badge comes in it's original 'LDO' type box of issue. The box is showing some normal useage at the corners what is seen often on these boxes. Nice original set in good used condition!
