Luftwaffe Air Gunner Badge - B&NL
Luftwaffe Radio Operator/Air Gunner Badge with Lightning (Fliegerschützenabzeichen mit Blitzbündel). The Air Gunner Badge was introduced by 'Hermann Göring' on 26 March 1936 for award to radio operators, air gunners and mechanics who had met the required criteria. The Wireless Operator’s/Air Gunner’s badge was awarded on an individual basis and the main criteria for bestowal of the award was the completion of five operational flights over enemy territory or a minimum of two months active service. This is a hybrid version made of an early nickel-silver wreath having a later zinc type eagle attached. The badge is complete with hinge attachement and catch but is unfortunately missing its original pin. The badge is showing great detail. The badge is nicely maker marked with 'B&NL' indicating production by the company of 'Berg & Nolte AG' from Lüdenscheid. Despite the missing pin still a nice original Air Gunner Badge!
