War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (Kriegsverdienst Kreuz 2. Klasse mit Schwerter). The War Merit Cross was instituted by Adolf Hitler on 18 October 1939. This is a rarely seen Spanish made tombak cross as awarded to veterans of the Divison Azul, complete with typical Spanish confectioned ribbon. The cross is not visible maker marked, this is an early version with smooth back Rare original Spanish made cross in very good condition. Interesting piece to add to a War Merit Cross collection!
