WW2 Iron Cross 1st Class
Iron Cross 1st Class (Eisernes Kreuz 1. Klasse). On 1 September 1939 Hitler reinstituted the Iron Cross (First time in 1813). The first class medal was for award to personnel who performed three to five acts of bravery in combat, and had already been awarded the Iron Cross second class. The cross has a three piece construction and a magnetic core. The cross is not visible maker marked but can be attributed to production by the company of 'Paul Meybauer' from Berlin. The cross is having a functional pin and catch. Engraved on the back is '4./217' and the date '2.4.43' indicating that it probably was awarded on 2 April 1943. The cross is in worn condition and is slightly dented, see photos. Nice original cross in good used and worn condition!
