Rare original WW2 Polish ATS Jacket

Description

Rare original World War 2 Polish ATS Jacket (Service Dress). Following the fall of Poland many thousands of Poles fled to Britain. The majority of these men joined the 1st Polish Corps formed in Britain. Polish women who had fled their native country and others living in Britain wished to support their menfolk, thus the 'Pomocnicza Stuzba Kobiet' (Women’s Auxiliary Service), known as the Polish ATS came into existence. The women wore ATS uniforms with white on red embroidered 'Poland' shoulder titles, Polish eagle buttons and Polish eagle cap insignia. Unlike the ATS, the Poles were allowed to Carry arms and were often to be seen standing sentry, alongside male ranks, dressed in ATS Service Dress with 37 Pattern Web Equipment and a rifle. Four Thousend Polish women served in the Women’s Auxiliary Service during World War 2. This is an original 1941 Pattern ATS Jacket, worn by a female Polish ATS member. This jacket is produced by the company of 'Diamond & Schlaferman Ltd', it is a size 4. The jacket is complete with original applied collar tabs, Polish eagle buttons and 'Poland' shoulder titles. The jacket is in very good condition. Rare original Polish female ATS Jacket!
