WH (Heer) BeVo 'Sonderverband 288' Armbadge
WH (Heer) BeVo Armbadge as worn by members of the 'Sonderverband 288'. The 288th Special Service Unit, originally known as 'Sonderverband 288' was a regimental sized, special operations unit consisting of sub-units with various combat specialties including mountain and desert warfare, night operations and infiltration. This unit was formed in Potsdam in 1941 from specialist soldiers with previous experience in the deserts of the Middle East and North Africa. The Sonderverband 288 was a fully motorized unit and operated together with the 90th Light Infantry Division in the Afrikakorps. The badge is executed in the so-called BeVo-weave style on a dark-green linnen background, showing a palmtree in front of a rising sun. Rare original example in mint and unissued condition!
