Cased Prussian Golden Merit Cross

Description

Prussian Golden Merit Cross with Case and Outer Carton (Verdienstkreuz in Gold im Überkarton). The Prussian Merit Cross was a meritorious service decoration of Prussia. Established on 27 January 1912, by Wilhelm II in his capacity as King of Prussia, it recognized general merit to Prussia. The cross could be awarded to civilians as well as members of the military. The cross was awarded in two classes a gold cross and a silver cross. This is a gold class award, complete with original green coloured case and rare outer carton. The case and outer carton are the same as can be used for the earlier pre-WW1 Military Merit Cross, also be known as the "Pour le Mérite for non-commissioned officers and enlisted men". Extremely rare case and outer carton. Rare and desirable original set in very good condition!
