Luftwaffe Folding Shovel with Carrying Case
Luftwaffe Folding Shovel with Carrying Case (Klappspaten mit Spatentasche). On 12 November 1938 a new improved, folding shovel was introduced to replace the earlier non-folding pattern entrenching tool. The entrenching tool/shovel was a basic item issued to all EM/NCO’s and was issued with a specific carrying case that was to be worn on the belt. This is a 2nd pattern carrying case, made of black simulated (Ersatz) leather, the carrying case is nicely maker marked and dated 'cqr 1943' indicating production by the 'Lederwerk Sedina, Joachim Schell' from Finkenwalde (nowadays Zdroje, Poland). The cover is marked 'BAL 162' (Bauaufsicht der Luftwaffe) as well indicating that this shovel was issued to the Luftwaffe. The Entrenching tool is nicely maker marked 'B&Co, Solingen' and WaA marked. Both the shovel and cover are in overall very good, only slightly used condition. Rare original Luftwaffe shovel in very good condition!
