Polizei K98 Combat Bayonet with Frog (Seitengewehr 98K mit Seitengewehrtasche). The K98 bayonet was a standard issue item and was accompanied by a bayonet frog to be worn on the reverse left side of the load carrying waist belt. The K98 bayonet remained the standard issue bayonet through-out the war with minor manufacturing variations. The bayonet is nicely maker marked by the company of 'Paul Weyersberg & Co' (P.Weyersberg) from Solingen and showing the unique serial number '9616' and a small eagle marking with capital 'B' indicating polizei issue. Since this is a commercial grade bayonet there are no Waffenamt markings visible. The blade is in very good condition, the bayonet is having bakelite grips. The bayonet comes together with its non matching scabberd marked with serial number '7764' and maker marked 'S178' and dated 1936. The set comes with an original leather frog as found together, the frog is not visible maker marked. Rare original Police issue bayonet and frog in good used condition!
