Sudanese SG42 Type Combat Bayonet
Sudanese Combat Bayonet (Seitengewehr AR10). The Sudanese bayonet for the post-war ArmaLite AR-10 battle rifle was an adaptation of the SG 42 with only slight alterations. About 1750 AR10 rifles were sold to Sudan, in 1959, by 'Interarmco', of Alexandria, Virginia, the company of famous small-arms dealer 'Samuel Cummings'. Interarmco was an original exclusive agent for ArmaLite and sold these rifles to Sudan. A specific bayonet for them was made for Interarmco and stamped with their name and logo on the ricasso, these bayonets were made in Germany, possibly by the company of 'Carl Eickhorn' who also was the manufacturer in 1942 of the original and super-scarce German SG-42 bayonet on which the design was clearly based. This bayonet is unfortunately missing the tool-set, these are often missing and sometimes these bayonets were found with a small piece of wood as a filler inside the grip. The bayonet is showing beautiful reddish bakelite and is in overall good used condition. Extremely rare and hard to find original Sudanese bayonet which would be a great addition to any bayonet collection!
