Wehrmacht Sentry Winter Straw Overshoes (Strohschuhe). The straw boots were originally introduced after the first devastating winter in Russian as the standard leather marching boots didn’t provide the warmth required in the extreme cold. The boots are not visible maker marked or dated. The straw shoes are in overall good used condition with light age and usage toning. Decorative and rarely seen original pair!

These shoes originate from the collection of the recently closed Eyewitness Museum and were in display in the diorama in the last picture!
