Wehrmacht 'Zeltbahn' in Italian Camouflage
Wehrmacht Shelter Quarter (Zeltbahn 31) made of captured Italian Camouflage material. The shelter quarter served buttoned together to form a four-man tent (or larger), it could also be worn as a poncho to give protection against rain, and it served as camouflage during a battle. It is made of tightly woven cotton drill with the "Italian" camouflage pattern, which is only showing camouflage colours on one side of the Zeltbahn. On the back are some Italian manufacturer's markings of the material visible. The Italian material was woven in narrower strips than the German cotton duck, therefore each Zeltbahn half is made of two panels. The shelter quarter is in clearly used condition, showing some damages and staining/discoloration, see photos. A few buttons are missing, the metal eyelets in the corners are all present. These Zeltbahns have been issued to all troops. The Zeltbahn can be dated between 1943/1945. These original shelter quarters in Italian Camouflage material are hardly ever offered for sale. Rare original shelter quarter in good used condition!
