Battle damaged WH (Heer) M35 DD Combat Helmet
Battle damaged Wehrmacht (Heer) Double Decal M35 Combat Helmet (Stahlhelm M35). The stamped sheet steel construction M35 helmet retains most of its original paint, the early factory apple-green paint is clearly visible beneath the fieldgrey overpaint, the paint is showing scratches and normal traces of usage. The standard Heeres type decal is present for about 45%, the national shield is clearly visible beneath the fieldgrey overpaint, see photos. All three liner retaining rivets are intact. The interior of the helmet is an early M31 leather liner with all nine fingers intact, the original drawstring is present as well. The early liner is having an early single aluminum liner ring. The liner ring is maker marked by the 'B&C' from Berlin and dated 1937. The shell is marked with maker and size 'SE68' which indicates production by the company 'Sächsische Emaillier und Stanzwerke A.G.' from Lauter. The reverse interior neck guard apron has a stamped serial number '3494'. The helmet is complete with its original leather chinstrap, the chinstrap is nicely maker marked and dated 1940. This helmet is showing two bullet impacts, in from front and out in the back through the liner, see photos. This helmet was found in a private household in the Netherlands recently and never before part of a collection, the helmet was picked up as a souvernir in the end of the war in Limburg.
