WH (Heer) Artillery Officer's Visor Cap
WH (Heer) Artillery Officer's Visor Cap (Schirmmütze). Visor caps were a standard item for all armed forces personnel during the Third Reich period. Although enlisted personnel were issued their caps from government supplies they were also permitted to purchase privately tailored caps. This is a nice Officer's example. The celluloid sweat-diamond ('Raute') is missing, the cap is size '55' marked on the orange coloured oilcloth lining material. The leather sweatband is in good supple condition, underneath the sweatband is a faint marking showing the manufacturer's name followed by 'Mützenfabrik' (headgear factory). The Visor cap is piped in the red 'Truppenfarbe' (branch-colour) for Artillery personnel. The cap is complete with its original aluminum cocarde and aluminum cap-eagle. The cap shows only minor traces of usage and age, see photos, the cap has a great shape. This cap would look great in an Artillery or Sturmgeschütz display. Stunning original visor cap in very good condition!
